Chronicle Needs: Distribution Sales Associate

Chronicle Books is pleased to announce an opening for a Distribution Sales Associate in our Distribution Client Services department. Our Distribution Client Services team has the privilege of working with such well-known publishers as Quirk, Blue Apple, Princeton Architectural, Laurence King, PQ Blackwell, SmartLab, and Moleskine. The Distribution Sales Associate is charged with the effective execution of focused initiatives designed to grow market share and drive sales. This includes serving as the link between the clients and sales team for key account sales strategies, merchandising programs, product launches, promotions, new market development, and product training.

Key account sales strategies. Set detailed strategies of key client accounts in conjunction with sales and distribution staff. Facilitate planning and execution.
Merchandising programs. Facilitate planning and execution of merchandising programs at key accounts. Includes displays, window promotions, website merchandising, gift with purchase, BOGO, etc.
POP displays. Evaluate needs for point-of-purchase materials at each launch. Work with clients to establish the correct display systems and any necessary specials to support sell in.
Plan seasonal specials for individual titles and core categories (cross clients). Set terms, secure necessary approvals and coding, and distribute to sales in timely manner.
Backlist promotions. As above.
Product launches. Plan necessary training and material support for key product launches.
Product training. Conduct training for sales team on specialized lines and titles.
Market development. Set strategy for opening new markets core to client growth. Partner with clients, sales, finance, and ops to set correct terms, support systems, product launches, on-going sales and marketing efforts.

• 3+ years account management experience in book or stationery industry
• Demonstrated success in managing and growing national account business
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Supervises: No
Status: Exempt, Salaried
Customary Schedule: Mon-Fri, 9-6 PM and beyond when necessary (including some evenings and some weekends)
