A Roundtable Discussion and Lunch with Radio Producers Around the Bay
Join us on Thursday, April 1, 12:30 – 2:30pm for an interactive discussion with producers from some of the Bay Area’s top radio programs for authors. Come learn about their shows, how they like to be pitched, how they define a good guest and show, and how many of them are using social media to broaden the reach of their respective programs.
We’ll discuss why radio remains an important medium for promoting books and authors. And if you work in local radio, this is a great opportunity to support your colleagues, compare notes, network, and meet the publicists who pitch you regularly!
LAURA PRIVES is the executive producer of The Morning Show on KPFA, a locally produced public affairs program covering the Bay Area, California, National, and International news, as well as arts and culture. Hosts: Aimee Allison and Brian Edwards-Tiekert.
KATHI KAMEN GOLDMARK is a producer at West Coast Live, where Sedge Thomson is the host who has managed to distinguish the show apart from any other show on public radio by interviewing the most original, outrageous, and
thought-provoking artists based on the West Coast, or stopping here awhile. Sedge engages novelists, filmmakers, comedians, actors, and poets to talk about the cultural forces they are creating, and the source of their inspiration. Former guests include: Michael Chabon, legendary beat poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Robin Williams.
CONNIE KIM is the News Programming and Web Producer at KCBS. She produces content for the radio station and works on the website. She is proud to be a part of a team that received numerous awards for Best News Website, regionally and nationally. She is also the host of the KCBS Community Corner at kcbs.com where she likes to focus on stories that inspire listeners or shed light on a needed cause. Prior to KCBS, Connie worked in television at KGO-TV and BayTV.
Plus other special guests pending!
